Back at last

Our computer's still dead, but I found the DSL CD that I had misplaced when we first got the Internet, and used it to set things up on the little laptop my husband's boss gave us ("hey, do you want a laptop? I've got one gathering dust in the garage" !!) So anyway, here I am, ready and willing to waste my time all over again. Except that I cannot leave my children alone for five minutes. I did so today and emerged to discover a burning smell in the kitchen. There was a full-fledged fire in our toaster, with Luke crying over it. After my initial heart-attack and brainless panic (how the heck did he even DO it??), I grabbed a bowl, filled it with water and dumped it on the fire. Oh, and I even managed to remember to unplug it first. Everything was fine, except I'm pretty sure that the toaster is, well, toast. Adventures in mothering, I guess. Now I'm off to make sure they haven't burned down the whole kitchen.
