Yes, obviously. This was very amusing, and I chuckled at the juxtaposition of Star Wars ala John Steinbeck. And yet my main reaction was "Luke is only referenced as an orphaned boy?? Han Solo is presented as the main character?? A pox upon you, traitorous Luke-haters!" Sheesh. I shudder to think what I'd do to someone who outright mocked Luke to my face. No wonder I named my son after him. (Yes, yes, I like the name in its own right; it's a good solid Biblical name...but let's be honest, I wouldn't have thought of it if not for my extremist Luke-fangirlism.)
I must find a way to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Luke (and oh yeah, those other characters, Hans or something? ;P ) tomorrow, short of grabbing a last minute flight to LA and crashing Celebration IV. Sigh. I'll have to content myself with wearing a Star Wars T-shirt and putting my hair in Princess Leia buns, maybe watching a marathon of all six movies....except I can only watch Episode IV on VHS because the DVD was mysteriously scratched.... :sobs:
Okay, I'm done.

Date: 2007-05-24 10:54 pm (UTC)I've been doing a bit of thinking about the thirtieth anniversary tomorrow myself, too, trying to form a journal post on the topic in my head. Blocking out the time to watch even one of the movies hadn't quite come to me, though... although I certainly sympathise with your scratched-DVD woes.
