My husband got a job! A scant four days before school starts, mind you. Well, it's a long term sub assignment for someone going on maternity leave, but it should get him into the system (and there is the chance, after all, that the teacher will decide to be at home with the baby after her leave is up!). In any case, he'll be spending at least the next two months doing what he loves and showing people that he's good at it, instead of lumbering around. (Bad pun, sorry - he's been working at a lumber yard. :P). Anyway, hooray!

Also, Luke went in the potty again. Well, he was sitting on the potty when he went - it actually kind of sprayed all over the place. But I counted it and gave him a treat. It's rather hard when you're a boy. ;) Now if only he'll do it on purpose, instead of by accident when he just can't keep holding it in any more.

Congratulations on the teaching job! That has to be nerve-racking, but it certainly fits in with what you said earlier about schools often waiting until the laaaaast minute. (I have to wonder - surely they had advance notice about at least the approximate timing of the teacher's maternity leave? I wonder why they couldn't have given your husband a call several months ago! Unless the teacher is adopting her child, of course - timing for adoption can be very random and often people don't get much notice. If the teacher just got, say, her China referral last month, that could explain the last-minuteness).

And yay again for Luke! Hey, going on a technicality is still going :). Honestly, he's doing better than my youngest brother was at this stage.

Adoption would be a reasonable explanation, but it's more likely they were just dragging their feet. Why? I don't know. They're sadistic, probably. :P It's been a nail-biting few months. (He started applying immediately after graduation back in May).
