Fifth rejection is in. Someday I will summon the energy and optimism to revise my query and send it back out there, but today I just feel cruddy. There's a query critique contest going on at the same place that has the Secret Agent contest every month, and it would have really come in handy for me. My computer froze at the moment I was about to submit my query, and by the time it woke up, it was too late. Fated to be foiled, perhaps? I'm depressed.

Also, my work in progress is lousy.

If it makes you feel any better I hated what I'm currently working on and felt that I'd just dumped a month and a half of my life down the drain as recently as this past Monday, then I slashed it down to its barest elements and found it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was. Of course, it's a scientific paper about the differences in stacking energetics for different nearest neighbor stacking interactions- but the principle is the same. . .

I'm sure I'll start hating it again any day now. . .

I've emerged from the "my work is smelly" pit into the "eh, it's all right I guess" plain. Hopefully I shall get back to the "everything is wonderful!" pinnacle someday.

Blech. I'm sorry about that, especially your computer getting an attitude (How all computers do inform against me?) I'm glad you're out of the pit, and hope the pinnacle isn't too far away!
