The King of kings
Dec. 24th, 2006 01:50 pmSon of the Eternal Father, He could have chosen a grand birth in a palace, awaited and attended by the highest in station. Could have enjoyed a childhood of fame and acclaim, of luxury and comfort. He chose instead to be born in the lowest of places, attended by animals and sheepherders. He lived the childhood of a carpenter's adopted son, worked hard, took nothing for granted. Kings in this world acquire their kingdoms with gold and cold jewels. He bought His Kingdom with His own blood. It is founded on the unshakable strength of humility, submission and sacrifice. It will last long after all palaces and wealth have turned to dust.
That's how I try to keep the wonder of Christmas with me every year. It never fails to amaze me that the King of kings was born in a stable.
