When the Jedi Council is apprised of Obi-Wan's contact with Grievous, we get this image:

Now, I suspect that the reason that holograms and Force ghosts look so similar might be a simple factor of the effects available at the time of the the original trilogy. Maybe there was an extra intended symbolism there, maybe not. But intentional or not, the Council has a truly ghostly appearance here. Insubstantial, not really present. Foreshadowing their imminent doom.

Yoda has some sense of this as they discuss the possibility of forcing the Chancellor to step down. He knows they are headed down a dark path, but he can't seem to find any way to prevent it. Indeed, the scene ends as the Chancellor's office literally closes in on Yoda:

Next time, a Sith Lord unmasks...

One thought that popped into my head seeing your first frame was the juxtaposition of Commander Cody with three Jedi, although I suppose it depends on knowing what's to come to start thinking about "an unanticipated threat (and replacement) in their midst..." Anyway, not having thought all that much before about just how the screen wipes happen makes that a particularly interesting part of your series for me.
