While the duplicitous Viceroy scrambles to find out what happened to the Jedi, and hides their existence from the queen, we are treated to a first look at Naboo.

I fell in love with this planet from this moment onward. In the original saga we only had glimpses of beauty and serenity. That makes sense in a story about a galaxy in conflict, ravaged by tyranny and strife. Yavin IV is a verdant jungle, but we focus by necessity on the angular gray structures of the Rebel installation. Dagobah is full of life but eerie and a little dangerous. Bespin is gorgeous on the surface, with a dark underbelly. Endor has been marred by the Empire's occupation.

But Naboo...what a paradise. It represents all the loveliness and innocence that will be lost when the Republic falls. Architecture that seems a natural part of the environment rather than a cold, lifeless incursion, a symbol of living in harmony with nature rather than in opposition. Every time we're treated to a view of the cityscape, the sprawling vistas remind us what is at stake as the Republic teeters at the brink of corruption and civil war.

Next, that first inkling of war....
