Good-bye to a great writer
May. 19th, 2007 09:56 amI just learned yesterday that Lloyd Alexander, my favorite children's/YA author, has died. *sniffle* It wasn't an enormous surprise, considering he wrote the Prydain Chronicles back in the sixties and fought in WWII. He was 83. Still, I will miss him. Pretty devoted writer, too, working on a book right up till the end, that's going to be published posthumously. He never wanted to stop writing, all these years. I think that's fantastic. Something else that made me sniffle - his wife of sixty years died just two weeks earlier. It seems like the longtime married couples never like to stay apart for long when one of them dies. Now that's the kind of devotion I'd like my married life to have.
Farewell, Lloyd Alexander. You will be missed.
