"Dreams"

Int., same motel room. TORI is still sick in bed, but eating a sandwich with a decent appetite. The camera is propped to get a lopsided view of her face

TORI
(Sighs) It’s not a minor cold. Obviously. And I can’t seem to shake it. Ideally, I should get myself to a hospital. But that’s not going to happen.

Dr. Walton has been very helpful. She’s a recent med school graduate. And for some reason she thinks I’m worth helping, even knowing all that I’ve done. I should be grateful for that.

(Cut) But I don’t deserve help. I should be doing this alone. As penance. (Breaks off into long cough)

(Cut) I thought I saw the monster at my window last night. Dr. Walton said it might have been a fever dream. There’s no way to know for sure.

(Cut. Softly) I’ve had other dreams. Really vivid ones. Where I’m back with Eli, and Hannah and William. They’re not angry with me. They forgive me. They welcome me with open arms.

(Cut) And then I wonder if those moments are the true reality, and the daytime is nothing but a nightmare.

(Cut) I tried to get out of bed yesterday. I was too shaky to stay up for more than a few minutes. (Pulls out laptop) All I can do is edit my videos and keep scouring the news for sightings of the monster.

WALTON (Knocking at door, Off) Tori?

TORI
Come in.

WALTON
(Enters; joins TORI in frame, puts down bags and puts hand to TORI’s forehead) How are you feeling?

TORI
Not much better. Not much worse.

WALTON
Well, I brought you some more medicine. And soup.

TORI
(Nods, tries to speak and can’t)

WALTON
It’s all right. You just need to rest. (Sad smile) Sorry. That’s all I seem to say, isn’t it?

TORI
No, it’s all right. Thank you.

WALTON
(Nods, pulls blankets around TORI as she settles down. Looks at camera, frowns) I’ll tell her later.
