"Knife"
Int., Tori’s childhood bedroom. Side-view of TORI. She’s dressed in a simple white dress, staring at a mirror.
TORI
Now would be the usual time, I’m guessing, for reflecting on all my girlhood dreams and the fruition of my hopes. Not much chance of that today. (Goes to desk, picks up knife) Most women probably don’t bring a weapon to their wedding. Myself, I’m only regretting that I can’t legally bring a gun to the ceremony.
I’ve never used a weapon before. Not to attack or defend myself against someone.
(Holds out hand) I’m shaking. I can’t seem to make it stop. I’ll have to tell Dad it’s just wedding day jitters.
He doesn’t need an explanation for why Eli’s practically been standing guard around me since we got back here, why he’s waiting outside my door right now instead of hiding from his bride-to-be in obedience to some outdated superstition. Dad figures after what happened to our friend, he’s terrified to let me out of his sight. He hopes, in time, we won’t have to live in fear any more.
(Turns to face camera, gripping knife) I hope so too. One way or another.
(Knock at the door)
ELI
(Off, muffled) Are you ready?
TORI
Yes. I’ll be right there. (Goes to turn off camera)
