Now our computer is working again. I'm happy, but suspicious. We didn't do anything to fix it. We just tried to turn it on, as we have been for the past week without any effect, and suddenly it came to life. Now I'm afraid to turn it off again for fear that this is just a unrepeatable fluke...

I think we'd still better bring it with us to my parents' house when we go there next weekend, just so my dad can attempt some kind of diagnosis. My brother was the one who mostly put it together, but when I talked to him he didn't have the slightest idea why it wasn't working or what to do about it. He was really more surprised that it ever worked in the first place.

Sheesh. I'm glad to get free computers when my parents are finished with them, but maybe we'd be better off getting something more dependable....
