I'm going to list the titles of some of the fanfics I'm least ashamed of writing, and a brief summary. Sure, why not?

Reconciliation: The Boy-angel
The title makes me cringe a bit, but generally I think it's a decent exploration of Anakin facing a sort of symbolic after-life. The reconciliation refers mostly to Padmé, but also to his own conscience. I think I wanted to emphasize the idea that Anakin may have returned from the Dark Side, but he has a long way to go before reaching...er, inner peace, I guess.

THE FANFICFIC
I've never posted this anywhere, and I'll probably never finish it. By its very nature there's no real conclusion. It's a parody of fan fiction in general and SW fiction in particular. I (Cindé of Naboo) am the main character, caught in some sort of contrived inter-dimensional warp, trying to reach some sort of conclusion in the story so I can get the heck out. Just about every major SW character makes an appearance, as well as some a few minor ones, plus a handful of crossover characters, from Papa Smurf to J.R.R. Tolkien. Pure, silly fun, but darn enjoyable to write.

Birthright: The Story of a Genius
What is it with me and colons? Well, anyway, this was intended to be a very creepy glimpse into Palpatine's brain. I'm not sure if really worked, but, oddly enough, this story led directly to my interest in writing Jar Jar. I found that writing from a peculiar point of view was very...liberating, I suppose. And I tried Jar Jar next, and there you have it.

Another Point of View
My personal favorite - it's probably the best of its kind simply because no one else has ever attempted it, at least not that I know of. ;) The Phantom Menace from Jar Jar's point of view, conveniently translated by Queen Amidala. Deals with his friendship with Padmé, Ani and Qui-Gon, his conflicts about his life-debt and what he owes his people, his fears and flaws, of which he is quite painfully aware. I grew quite fond of the Gungans in general while writing this, and of course of Jar Jar in particular. Now here's a secret: I disliked Jar Jar a great deal at first. I've come a long way since then. :)

Stargazer
The prequel, so to speak, of APOV. Starts at the very beginning, with Jar Jar's first memories of his parents and siblings (I gave him an older brother and two older sisters) and going on through his schooling and mishaps as a young adult until the accident that leads to his banishment. I made a point of NOT having anything extraordinary happen - he grows up like any other Gungan, though more awkward physically than most, and doesn't save the universe twelve times or anything. It's a very incidental sort of work, not particularly plot-heavy. Mostly I focus on Jar Jar's yearning to become more than he is and explore the unknown. The title refers to his childhood fascination with the tiny bright lights in the sky above the water; hopefully this makes his first journey on a spacecraft more poignant. Or not. Whatever.

Mistaken Identities
The Attack of the Clones companion to Another Point of View. Translated this time by Jar Jar's sister, a Gungan linguist (just a little touch I enjoyed putting in). I was intrigued by Jar Jar's role in Episode II, though it was decreased considerably from the first one (how tiresome were the smug comments that GL had acquiesed to the fans! Give me a break!). This fic is much shorter than either of the other Jar Jar fics, and I only just recently finished it after a long hiatus from fanfic in general, but I'm moderately satisfied with how it turned out. Subtle hints at how Jar Jar is manipulated by the Chancellor. I'm very curious now about what will happen to him in Episode III, and there'll probably be another fic in the works in May of 2005.

A Game of Hearts/Poisoned Heart
I feel ambivalant about these. I never really should have written them - they're Episode II and Episode III fics, respectively, written before AOTC came out. And so they're way off canon, and I like GL's version better. Obviously. But I guess there's still some value in them. They revolve chiefly around Anakin and Padmé, with waaay too much angst in the second one. At any rate, they're certainly some of my longest and most extensive fics, and I'd hate to think I put all that time into them for no reason. Ah, well.

The Flower and the Stone
Ah, how I did love to delve into Anakin/Padmé angst! This is one of my few poems, and I have to say some of the rhyme and meter is exceedingly forced. But the imagery isn't too bad, and I liked writing the three verses as they built up to a reconciliation...I think I was writing this around the same time as The Boy-Angel.

Sunrise/Sunset
Apparently I've gone into Fiddler on the Roof mode. ;) Well, Sunrise marked my return to fanfic writing after nearly half a year (I'd been busy, and still am, on some orignal fiction). It's a post-AOTC ficlet, Padmé's viewpoint. Sunset follows Anakin's viewpoint just afterward Sunrise. Quick little missing moment bits, but I'm not really a plot-heavy author anyway - I'm more focused on diction and crafting prose in a sort of poetic way. And I certainly use some flowerly language here. Hopefully it doesn't come off as too pretentious.

I can't think of anything else that I wouldn't rather bury in the ground, never to be unearthed. At least that probably means my writing has improved over the four years that I've been doing fan fiction. Let us hope so.
