A Thousand Stars: Episode III, Part 21
Mar. 14th, 2024 11:29 amThough the battle with Grievous is ultimately just a distraction from the real conflict for Anakin's soul, Lucas makes sure to keep it interesting and entertaining. Obi-Wan cuts off Grievous's extra arms and prevents him engaging in any more swordplay, but then he loses his own weapon just like he was always warning his Padawan about, oops. So he has to be a little more creative. There's hand-to-hand combat, with Grievous proving physically stronger, though Obi-Wan discovers he's quite vulnerable about his sack o' organs. Even when he's flung nearly over the edge of the platform, his expression looks merely thoughtful rather than panicked.

He seems to have learned quite a bit since the time Darth Maul put him in a similar position.
So, he blasts Grievous straight in the organs, and the blustering droid general goes up in flames.

Perhaps a little preview of the damage Anakin will be suffering later on in the film? Yikes. Anyway, Obi-Wan gives us one final bit of lighthearted humor, which we'll really need once the revenge of the Sith really gets underway.

Flings it away like garbage -- almost too quick to catch, if you're not watching for it. So uncivilized.
Next time, some serious brooding....
