A Thousand Stars: Episode II, Part 14
Feb. 23rd, 2023 09:49 amThe juxtaposition couldn't be more profound. From the stark sterile halls of Kamino's facilities, we shift to the lush, colorful lakeside retreat on Naboo.

It is both a triumph in architecture and a celebration of natural beauty. Building upon the landscape without detracting from it.

Note that we haven't left the water imagery behind, but here it is a blessing rather than a hazard. The sun is shining brilliantly, the lake is calm, and the buildings are designed to accommodate boats and welcome travelers. Inviting rather than forbidding.

Look at how relaxed Padmé is as she settles into her nativity. This is where, at last, she will fully let down her walls.

Why water, like Kamino? Because water is the origin of all life, and both plotlines are about birth. The artificial birth of clones and the dawn of the Empire's army contrasted with the natural birth of Padmé and Anakin's romance, ultimately leading to the birth of their twins. These two events are entwined because Luke and Leia's fate will be inextricably entwined with the fate of the galaxy. The waters of Kamino are dark and troubled; Naboo is serene. But don't get too comfortable, because the romance will (obviously) not be free from troubles. This beginning, however, is sweet and peaceful.
