It's a fine line to walk -- anyone can change and turn good again, but that doesn't lessen the severity of their evil actions. Vader's not just a poor lonely little kid; he is in fact a dark lord of the Sith and all that entails. I have more thoughts about this that will probably come out in future entries, but one thing I'll say is in a media landscape where antiheroes and/or heroic bad guys are the norm, I really appreciate a story that says, No, being the villain is not cool or enviable -- Vader is a pathetic figure who wasted his potential and has no real happiness in his cruel, petty behavior.
