Busy, busy, busy
Jul. 5th, 2006 02:41 pmLuke's summer program starts tomorrow; he'll go in on Thursday and Friday, but then on Saturday we're heading down to Pennsylvania to go with my family on vacation in Virginia, and he won't get back to school until a week from Monday. Yeah. I'm really looking forward to vacation, but the double car rides are going to be a hassle, and I still have to get around to packing. And Luke will just be adjusting to the summer program when we whisk him out of it again. I know he adjusts very, very easily, but I'm still harried. We're coming back the day before my birthday, so that'll probably be a low-key event as well. Not that I was hoping for a great big gala party, but it's just something I've long been familiar with - having a birthday right in the middle of vacation season. Most of my friends were never home, so I had to move my party to some other week or month. I'm reaching a quarter-of-a-century this year, so it's somewhat of a milestone.
We were seriously considering moving to a bigger place, because my husband will (theoretically) get a higher paycheck with his teaching job. But he hasn't found one yet (apparently they really take their time with new teachers, sometimes waiting until the day before school starts!) and we didn't find anything that was worth the rent hike when we're not even sure how much money we'll have to work with. So we'll stay here for another year. Really, it's quite tolerable, a lot roomier than many other places. But the bathroom's the size of a closet and the second "bedroom" is a windowless, closetless room that's connected to the main bedroom like an antechamber. I was really hoping we'd be able to move someplace else...but maybe this time next year we'll have enough money saved up for something even better...maybe even, dare I say, buying a house? Well, let's wait and see...
Meanwhile, I'm feeling rather ill. I'm not sure if it's a bug or food poisoning; whatever it is, I hope it passes quickly because I have way too much to do to be lying down all day, which is all I want to do right now.
