More for Episode IV!
For Luke's first conversation with "Ben" I decided to reprise the music I used for Kamino, as an echo of Obi-Wan's past.
BEN KENOBI
(Original, about one minute in)
Luke: Now we’ve found our little Artoo
But there’s danger all around
If they see that we have come here
Just be still; don’t make a sound
I can see them in the distance
But we’re keeping out of sight
Wait a moment, there’s another
Who will save us from this plight?
(He is knocked unconscious; Obi-Wan arrives and frightens away the sandpeople)
Obi-Wan (to Artoo): Well, my little friend, hello there
Come along, don’t be alarmed
The boy will be all right soon
He has suffered little harm
Luke: Is that you? Old Ben Kenobi!
Am I glad to see your face
Though I never thought to meet you
In this far-off, lonesome place
Now, this droid has named its owner
So devoted! And the name
It is Obi-Wan Kenobi
Who is that? Ben, can you say?
Obi-Wan: That’s a name I haven’t heard
Since many long, long years ago
Obi-Wan. It brings back mem’ries
Of the secrets that I know
Luke: Is he dead? Gone away?
Obi-Wan: He is living still today.
You see, the name belongs to me
But I had left it far behind
Luke: And so the droid is truly yours
Obi-Wan: The truth is harder still to find
Let us go
A safer place
Our foes are on the chase
Your father was my friend
He was a cunning warrior
Luke: That’s not what I believed
Obi-Wan: Then you have been deceived
Your uncle feared you’d fly away
If ever of the truth you learned
You’d follow me on foolish crusades
And to the stars your heart would yearn
But now the time has come
Luke: And I know it is time
Obi-Wan: To have your father’s weapon
Luke: With its blade glowing bright!
Obi-Wan: To take claim your birthright now
Become a Jedi Knight!
Anakin, I won’t fail your son
He will grow in light
He will make things right!
This goes directly into another version of Bring Him Home, an echo of Train the Boy.
TELL THE BOY
(Original)
Obi-Wan: May the Force
Be my guide
With this boy
Sitting here at my side
Give me strength
For the tale
That our hopes
Might prevail
Tell the boy
What he needs
Give him hope
Luke: Ben, tell me how my father died
Obi-Wan: There was a pupil I had trained
But when he fell
To the dark
Darth Vader turned
And betrayed
Your father too
And he was slain
He was lured
By the dark
Of the Force
Luke: I don’t know of the Force
Obi-Wan: You must learn
Of its pow’r
All around
Everywhere
Binding us
Guiding us
To the light
Hear its call
Bring back hope
Feel the Force
