I don't know how much I'd really thought about the little "Leia's home planet is blown up in the previous movie" deal affecting the starting state for romance in this movie. Maybe I'd just thought it was a "how can I waste time dwelling on my personal feelings when there's a galaxy to liberate?" deal. Of course, I'm not exactly fond of "if it isn't spelled out in dialogue, it's a failing of the creators" criticisms...
