This latest comment about "Episode V had to look different from Episode IV" had me wondering how familiar I am with "sequels of the 1970s," and I even got to thinking that "James Bond movies kept going to different place"... contrasting the probe droid's arrival to Artoo and Threepio's escape in the previous film was something I'd never quite thought of before, though, and that's with having seen many examples of "Star Wars quoting itself" pointed out to me.
