Quantity
I may be just a teensy bit obsessive. Ha. There's an understatement. Once I start a project, I'm not really good at taking breaks. And I've discovered that it's just as true for drawing a set of costumes as it is for any of my other creative pursuits. So, here's the final batch of sketches, covering everything in Episode III. Plus a few bonus drawings, just because.

I like this one because I didn't have to draw any hands. :D

The nightgown, with those marvelously impractical pearls. And the japor snippet, because I like to make myself sad.

All these enormous pregnancy-concealing gowns - so much easier to draw than the contours of a pregnancy, heh.

Alone in her apartment with Anakin, Padmé can wear something a little less voluminous. And a little harder for me to draw. :P

This was in two deleted scenes, but also the wordless scene when Padmé and Anakin share a silent connection across the city, right before his fall. Sob.

From the deleted scene in Palaptine's office. Ridiculously, gloriously gigantic.

A beautiful dress for a sad, sad scene. That's pretty much the case for every costume onward.

The Senate dress, for when liberty dies with thunderous applause. I overdid it with the shading on this one, but I like the headdress at least.

When Padmé finds out Anakin has turned to the Dark Side. D:

From the confrontation on Mustafar. Definitely the best of the this batch. I can't believe I drew this, actually. The legs actually look like legs! You can tell she's pregnant! Hooray! Also, this scene rips my heart out of my chest and crushes it to powder.
I debated whether to draw the white dress from the birth scene just to be completist, but eh, it's just a white dress. So here's the final one.

Curse those impossible hands. But otherwise, it turned out pretty well. And so saaaaad.
Now for some bonus pictures.

In my first batch years ago, I drew all of Amidala's gowns from Episode I since they were all in the paper dolls book, but not her handmaiden disguise on Tatooine. So here it is!

Teeny tiny Ani.

Padawan Anakin. Ergh, that hair is hard to draw.

ROTS Anakin. Whoops, I started too big and ran out of room on the page. Also too much shading. But he has a lightsaber!
So, yes, I'm obsessive. That's 29 pictures in all, including the AOTC drawings, all over the course of two or three weeks. Apparently this a trend with me - the quality might be questionable, but I try to make up for it in sheer quantity. Like writing more than ten novels, none of which are published. But hey, each one is probably a little better than the last, right? So....maybe there is some eventual correlation between quantity and quality, if I just keep at it. Sure.
