Yes, you've got it exactly! I really enjoyed Shrek 2, but hated how Fiona just sort of drops out in the middle. Couldn't they have given her her own story of conflict. Why couldn't she have gotten to like the idea of having her old face back, and maybe not so keen on the idea of switching back? But then, I thought Shrek didn't look half bad as a person and was a little sorry that the Law Of Return To Status Quo meant they'd be ogres again at the end :). (Oh, and I did like the "Tonight on KNIGHTS!" part. No higher purpose but to entertain, but what can I say, I was!)
